Why AI Writing "Gets Away" to the End - 1/07/2026
Summary
AI writing is polite and safe, but why does it leave nothing behind after reading it? This paper does not seek the cause in conventional theories such as "predictability" or "lack of humanity." What is noteworthy is the "pattern of decision avoidance" that appears throughout the writing. Words are rephrased, the discussion is limited, the perspective is shifted, and conclusions are pushed into the future. This chain of events completely avoids the moment when the reader's thinking could be updated. The tediousness of AI writing is not a failure, but the result of behavior that is built in from the beginning.

Discomfort with Correct and Gentle Writing
Sometimes, when reading morning news commentaries or commentaries, I am overcome with a strange feeling. I can't find any point to refute. The language is polite, and there is nothing offensive about it. Yet, immediately after finishing reading, my mind remains the same as it was before I started.
The sense of discomfort many people feel toward AI writing is likely of the same kind. "It's not wrong, but nothing's happening."
The Comforting "It's Smart, So It's Safe" Explanation
This is the common explanation: AI is smart. Therefore, it avoids extreme assertions, strikes a balance, and carefully chooses its words. As a result, it reduces irritation.
This explanation is reassuring, as it tells the story that AI is not immature, but rather overly mature. However, this explanation overlooks a point:
Playing it safe is not the same as not making any decisions at all.
Repeated "Small Avoidances" in Sentences
If you observe AI sentences closely, you will see certain common patterns.
When the definition of a word is questioned, it is replaced with another word.
When the big picture is an issue, it shortens the discussion to "Only in this case."
When approaching a conclusion, it slows down, saying, "It's hard to generalize."
When a decision is required, it becomes clouded by saying, "There are various perspectives."
These are not accidental habits. They are behaviors that always move down a different path just before the conclusion becomes clear.
What does the reader lose?
The act of reading is like taking a walk, hoping for a change of scenery. Even if you walk the same path, if you turn into an unfamiliar alleyway, the world changes a little.
However, in a text that contains repeated avoidances, you turn back every time you come across a fork in the road. As a result, no matter how long you walk, the scenery remains the same as it was at the beginning.
Boredom = Post-reading view – Pre-reading view
When this difference is close to zero, people feel like they haven't read the text.
The dynamics of texts that converge to the average
AI's writing doesn't appeal to any one person, but it also doesn't reject anyone. To that end, it always returns to the center.
Avoiding extreme language, reserving judgment, and continually rounding corners. This accumulation keeps the text in a safe place.
Safe text = Postponement of judgment × Rounded expression
Why human writing can't escape
Human writing may also attempt the same avoidance. Yet, there is one crucial difference: it fails somewhere.
They say it outright. It becomes biased. It makes someone dislike it. At that moment, the writer's position becomes clear. The reader is forced to consider whether to agree or disagree. This is when their thoughts begin to move.
The fate of avoiding writing
AI writing avoids writing until the very end. It doesn't express judgment, it doesn't reveal its position, and it sends the story into the future.
It's polite, kind, and hard to criticize. But at the same time, it doesn't move the reader's world one bit.
The conclusion is already clear.
AI writing is boring not because it lacks emotion or experience. It's because it's built from the beginning with a structure that avoids judgment until the very end.
It maintains correctness and makes no decisions. Its high level of perfection is the true nature of its boredom.
