A Warm Room in the Fog

In a certain town, there was a magnificent, ancient clock tower. The townspeople took pride in the clock's precise ticking, and everyone lived their lives protected by its regularity. However, at some point, a small room began to be built at the base of the tower. It was a "special resting place" only open to those who had experienced sadness in their lives or who had endured hardships in secret.

Grateful for their own good health, the townspeople brought firewood and delivered hot soup to the "special room." Everyone believed without a doubt that it was the right thing to do. Seeing people relaxing in the resting place brought joy to the entire town. However, one foggy morning, someone suddenly noticed. As the number of people living in the room increased, the clock in the town square began to slow, just a little. Still, the people hesitated to speak out about it. To speak of their grief seemed like a sign of their own insensitivity.
